Red Tulip

James H Duncan's most recent poem to appear here was Silver Owls (January 2012).

Red Tulip
By James H Duncan

the red tulip
waits
on the table
wilting, fading
holding
on without water or
sleep

in the sun

and it always
will, like you, somewhere
without
me
