Our Mark

Elizabeth Stelling and Pasquale Varallo have both had poetry appear here before (My Father The Jazz Singer, June 2011; Rain, September 2011). They will join forces in 2012 with the release of their collection of love poems, 130 Years of Love forthcoming from unbound CONTENT.

Our Mark
By Elizabeth Akin Stelling and Pasquale Varallo

We left our names in January's snow.

We melted February's chocolate kisses on after-dinner lips.

We Marched to the same drummer on the drag of winter's tale.

We washed away all doubts with April showers.

We carved our initials on May's wet beach.

We giggled as June bugs landed in our tussled hair.

We saw our future on bursting fireworks night sky.

Our love was hotter than any August night could be.

Love's labors were not lost as September slowly let summer go.

We carved out ardor triangles in the soft flesh of October's fruit.

We gave thanks, broke wishbones, and our love soared to new heights as leaves rode November winds.

Like children we open each other's December hearts under evergreen
landscaped living room.

We toast to yet another year of love with midnight kisses and resolved resolutions ...
