Juxtaposition

just ask a moonbeam held against the clink
of crystals for comparison, ask him if his
throat is cooled by the ice, the night,
the loneliness. Ask him to dance on
a summer's eve velveted with gardenia,
laced with starlight while chauffeurs
pass the time and polish fenders
like silver for guests.
Ask him if he waits for the sunrise.
