Chocolate in the Bronx

Sarah Endo's most recent poem to appear here was To my neighbor, published as part of Contributor Series 8: Feast and Famine. About this poem Sarah says, "My grandfather's body died 24 years ago, but his spirit is very much alive."

Chocolate in the Bronx
By Sarah Endo

I know some people
might mock or disdain my beloved
Hershey bar, favoring fancier or foodier options.
Not me. My grandfather taught me to savor
all the sweetness
on our walks
to get candy, newspaper, and
chitchat from the corner store,
Te Amo.
