Contributor Series 9: If Men Had Ears, You Don't Know Me

Contributor Series 9: If Men Had Ears
You Don't Know Me
By Lou Pugliese

I sang in a band once
Rocking blues on "Spider and the Fly"
Great ballads like "Turn the Page"
I'd make you cry with my sweet, sweet "Danny Boy"
Yeah, I sang in a band once

I sing in the car today
Louder than ever
High range lost to pertussis
No clue what the real words might be

I'm the old gray-haired guy
Driving down the road in my Porsche
Mirrors vibrating from the bass
Lost in time and lost in space
Yeah, I sang in a band once

Lou Pugliese's most recent poem to appear here was Blank Verse (March 2011).

Lou, this is a heartfelt glimpse of past and present impinging on each other. Not your usual rhyme, but very REAL in its evocation. Good job.
