Contributor Series 9: If Men Had Ears
Concert in the Lobby
By Bobbie Troy

she paused in the doorway
of the concert lobby
allowing herself to be examined

a few heads did turn
toward the glint
from her opalescent gown,
the red hair and lips
that barely masked
an aura of conceit and cunning

she suddenly spotted him
by the ticket office
and just as he looked up
her eyes met his
with a knowing, clever smile

you, you're mine tonight, she decided

the concert had begun

Bobbie Troy's most recent poem to appear at vox poetica was The Brahman of Poetry, published in June 2011.
