At the Japanese garden

Kenneth Weene's poem La Banque Gauche appeared here in October. This is another example of imagery and a scene set with selective detail.

At the Japanese garden
By Kenneth Weene

there is a copse of evergreens;
each tree is a life remembered:
leaned, bent, scarred, pruned, and cut.
None is straight and full, for who
has led a life unblemished?
Tonight I will have a scone
with Chantilly cream
and carefully brewed sweet tea
in memory of you.
