I searched for G-D
in the synagogue; parchments and swaying men.
I searched for G-D
by the riverbank; naked
men dipping and spraying.
On the high mountains I
found one fat man
and a guru with an airplane.
I searched for G-D
in the lowest place on earth;
Stain of light between tired coals.
I searched for G-D
on the bookshelves, upper row;
Buddha, Descartes, and the Book of Nothing
the Bible, the Qur'an, the Bible Two.
I moved them all one shelf down
and placed instead books of literature:
Alterman, Cohen, Borland
and an anthology of red poetry.
I open a new notebook

I am searching for god in the words.

really great. i am happy to hear a new voice rising, celebrating the wisdom of humanism. especially coming from someone who has studied the great religions and still has regard for them.
