Contributor Series 6: A Currency of Words
I let my words purr like a cat
By Laura Zucca-Scott

I let my words purr like a cat
Rolling in comfort and unspoken love
Hoping understanding would break the night

Hope is never easy to come by
Sought after, corruptible and pure,
A child jumping in his father's arms

Words are overrated
Chimeras of sophisticated times
Dangerous and simple

If only one word could be spoken
I hope it would speak of love
Slow and caring, and new

Like a cat purring in my arms

Laura Zucca-Scott's poem Maze of Tomorrows (September 2010) is her most recent appearance at vox poetica.
