Butterfly

Gillian Gossling was born into a very learned and close-knit Jewish family. They instilled in her, from a very early age, a great love for reading and writing. She has been a creative writer for many years. An extensive traveler, she lived in the UK for some years before returning to her beloved South Africa, the place of her birth, where she lives with her husband Mike. Her poem is decidedly summery, although South Africa is experiencing their winter now.

Butterfly
By Gillian Gossling

Wings upon beams of light,
Wings whose whisperings are pure delight,
Wings that belong to the invisible realms ...
Whose sounds are like those of heavenly bells.

O whisper sweetly in passing,
O luminous one, you who are a Messenger
Of the white transparent light ...
Who flies silently and peacefully between realms that are far beyond our earthly plight.

Gentle Being your wings bring promises of all that is possible.
They remind us of the possibility of transforming to worlds of gossamer.
O delicate Being, you are a beautiful symbol of the worlds unseen.
