I Am
By Ailill
I am
a dream dreaming up a new song
in the stillness before the dawn
to celebrate the beginning of day,
awakening to my place as a rising flame.
I become
a reflection inspired
by the light of another fire,
sustained by earth's leaves, air's breath,
the poetry of this life moving ahead
to keep up with the tic toc of the clock
beating to the rhythms of noon day sun,
and the heat of the hectic city streets.
A cool wind that blows in afternoon thunder
and drums up early evening showers,
weeping rain drops from the sky into these eyes.
The dusk that unfolds windows into the soul.
Evening's contemplation
seeking wisdom
from ancient runes by the light of the moon,
feeling as if life has just arrived.
Weariness, tucking this body into bed at night,
losing sense of space and time,
drifting of into another beginning,
coming around again as
I am.
