She Thinks
Jasper Ballard's poetry has appeared here before (Second Chance, Move On,Childhood Lost), and, as you know, Childhood Lost also was part of Vwa: Voices for Haiti, edited by Lisa Marie Basile. Jasper is getting ready for a summer mission trip to Haiti. Imagine what stories he'll bring back for his students in September!
She Thinks
By Jasper Ballard
By Jasper Ballard
She thinks he doesn't hear her,
understand her, know her
She thinks
She thinks it can't happen,
won't happen
So why bother
She thinks
She thinks being open, being accepting is vulnerable, painful, counterproductive
She thinks
She thinks burying oneself
in work, daily routine,
this and that is living
She thinks
She thinks he is immature, lost
reaching for something
She thinks
She thinks she knows his intentions,
his desire, his modus operandi
She thinks
It's when one starts feeling and stops thinking
That one can begin to live
Maybe one day that will be what
She thinks

A very wise and beautiful poem Jasper and a reminder that our thoughts are often inspired by a fear fueled bias, while the heart is ruled by nothing but the ebb and flow of love.
