Reuniting

Bettie Coffin has a habit of delighting us with delicious little tidbits of poetry (Tears of JoySilenceChoices). While this poem is longer than her previous work here, it is no less delightful as we read the story it tells.

Reuniting
By Bettie Coffin

When we first met your pain was great.
I offered a comforting hand,
I listened for hours as you spoke,
A tried and troubled man.
It may seem strange but as we talked
I could feel a change begin.
A glimmer of hope revealed itself
Where sorrow had moments ago been.
I felt like I knew you well,
But we both knew that could not be.
Hours ago we were perfect strangers
Now confidantes, you and me.
Is it coincidence our paths crossed?
Or part of a master plan.
Two souls reuniting
A lost woman and a man.
