Contributor Series 4: Aspects of the Elephant
To A Past Love
By Jean M Hendrickson

I no longer measure past woes;
have stopped setting snares
to catch tiny wrongs,
flowers fill my yard.

The closer you come
the faster my heart beats,
I'll run to greet you
beneath a blue moon

arms filled with blossoms
mouth, with honey,
a hundred books
beneath our tree.

Stay 'til you're warmed
go when you're full
return if your journey allows
all is healed between us.

Jean M Hendrickson's poetry (Community, Death, New Kid, Armageddon 9/11, Older, Wiser, Escape, Oh, February) has appeared at vox poetica in 2009 and 2010.
