He's a keeper

Sarah Endo's poems have appeared here before (Contributor Series 1: 9/11, The tv is on at work; Flora, a Garden-Variety Poem; Just Born)  and you have read and loved them. Note the way Sarah uses humor in this poem, delivered gently and in a loving, teasing manner.

He's a keeper
By Sarah Endo

He's had the same box of staples since
college, which means the staples
are at least 17 to 21 years old
They're tarnished some
but still hold things together
He wrapped a piece of Scotch tape
around the box of staples
He's a keeper
