The Hawk Omen

Larry Blazek was born in Northern Indiana, but he moved to the south of that state for the weather (better suited to cycling) and the cheap land. He has been publishing the magazine-format collage Opossum Holler Tarot since 1983. His work has been published in journals including Mad Moth, The Flask Review, and Oceania. Larry has a Web site where he houses a wide assortment of his work. This simple poem will take you to a single moment in a journey, leaving you to imagine the steps before and after.

The Hawk Omen
By Larry Blazek

A hawk cries
As you leave the medicine lodge
Passing close overhead
Heading west
