Twilight Time
Susan
Okaty recently moved from San Antonio, TX, to, yes, you guessed it,
Virginia Beach, VA. In Texas, Susan was an academic dean for the North
East Independent School District. Her work has appeared in Highlights for Children.
She is a member of Hampton Roads Writers and the creative company of
Virginia is clearly agreeing with her. Her poem today is the most
gorgeous photograph of a perfect evening gone bad. Kind of makes a
reader long for a knucklebruiser of a bad time just for the exercise of
crafting such beauty.
Twilight Time
By Susan Okaty
The purple sunset spatters the sky
like peeled plums oozing,
the passion bruising the night
as if someone smeared Laura's lipstick
in rage.
