Breathing

Shelby Breen is a gifted writer in many media, but her poetry is especially good. This is an example of a well-formed, interdisciplinary poem. Shelby is a student in New Jersey and you will be seeing more of her great work on these pages and elsewhere in the future.

Breathing
By Shelby Breen

Huff puff, huff puff
Your lungs are at work

Inhale exhale, inhale exhale
Oxygen is flowing

In out, in out
Getting rid of carbon dioxide

Warm cool, warm cool
In little clouds of breath

Red blue, red blue
The color of our lungs

Breathe in breathe out, breathe in breathe out
You can't see it, but it's there helping you live
