Velvet Air
By R. Scott DeSena

Passes through my window
Tears into my skin
Brands my mind
With your face
Never fading
Emerging still

All the while—
Cement rain falls on my house
Pounding on my soul
Trying to pull you out

The sky—exploding
And righteously so
Velvet air
Passes through my shadow
Never saying hello
Tasting every bit of irony
On my salty tongue.
