What kind of poetry do you like to read?

Do you like Shakespeare? Maybe the long, storied works of Homer or Dante? Shel Silverstein? Hughes? Plath? All of it? Maybe it depends on your mood ...

Do you like to hear the poetic in the prose of great literature? Hemingway's simplicity, Fitzgerald's poignancy, Dickens' dexterity: poetry resides there. Read some of their work aloud and listen to it sing. And tell us where you find the poetic in your reading.

I love poetry but mostly what I consider the masters.
I love Edan St Vincent Millay and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. However, I'm open to the newness that comes out of poets today. Poetry says on the page what humans cannot say with a voice. Poetry has helped to heal me at different times. Poetry is joyful, too! Poetry comes from some deep level of human communication... Thank you.
